Mick Rock (Hammersmith, England, United Kingdom, November 22, 1948-Staten Island, United States, November 18, 2021)1​2​ was a British photographer, recognized for his iconic images of rock and heavy metal musicians and bands such as Queen, David Bowie, Black Sabbath, Syd Barrett, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Geordie, The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, Joan Jett, Talking Heads, Roxy Music , Crossfade, Thin Lizzy, Mötley Crüe and Blondie.

Frequently referred to as "the man who photographed the 1970s", the most recognizable photos of David Bowie as Ziggy Stardust were taken by Rock as the artist's official photographer.< /p>

In addition to his work with David Bowie, whom he met in early 1972, Rock is credited for creating album covers for such albums as Syd Barrett's The Madcap Laughs, Transformer and Coney Island Baby by Lou Reed, Raw Power by Iggy and the Stooges, Queen II and Sheer Heart Attack by Queen, Don't Be Fooled by the Name by Geordie, End of the Century by The Ramones and I Love Rock 'n' Roll by Joan Jett. He was also the official photographer on the film productions The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and Shortbus.

During his career he photographed bands and artists such as The Misfits, Snoop Dogg, Air Traffic, Alicia Keys, The Gossip, Lady Gaga, Richard Barone, The Killers, The Scissor Sisters, Michael Bublé, Michael Stipe, Kate Moss, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Chemical Brothers, Janelle Monáe, Queens of the Stone Age, Daft Punk, Kasabian, Snow Patrol, Daniel Merriweather, Black Keys, Hall & Oates, Peter, Bjorn and John, MGMT, Alejandro Escovedo, Pete Yorn, Gavin Degraw, Peaches, Fat Joe, Rhymefest, Nas, Q-Tip, Jane's Addiction, and Tom Stoppard.

he Passed away in Staten Island on November 18, 2021, at age 72. </ p>
